Indian Movie Playing in Theater Since 1995
[DharmeshPatel.com] Bollywood blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge has been shown at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre everyday since its 1995 release. Everyday, more than 700 people purchases ticket during afternoon show to see 4+ hour long movie. Owner of the theater planning to screen the film for another 100 weeks.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Passing Clouds] DDLJ - Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge: I didn't realise this movie was still playing in the theatres! One of my favorite Bollywood movies. And I must sheepishly admit I saw it about 10 times (sometimes I had no option - the day after we saw it in the theatres, the movie was played again on a long-distance bus! :)).
[Chakras Graffiti] Mile Sur Mera Tumhara: Well… This is not a Hindi post as my knowledge of Hindi is confined to the levels of “Ek gaanv mein ek kisaan raghu thaathaa” and some other phrases, courtesy - few Bollywood movies & those Hindi classes I so “willingly” attended for the exams conducted by Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha. If you tend to think very low of my Hindi vocabulary, I am compelled to state here that I also know few hard phrases like “Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun”, “Hum Saath Saath Hain” etc.
[Sepia Mutiny] Rocky Horror Le Jayenge: The last time I saw a movie in Bombay, it was at a theater showing 'Hera Pheri' and a Rs 40 ticket got me seats in the second row in front of the screen (that's a pretty bad place to sit in). Actually it was quite an adventure - we were desperate to see a movie that night, and not knowing any place in Mumbai properly, we took a taxi from the Andheri station. It was a jolly sardarji who quickly found out that we were from Kerala. He proceeded to regale us with Kerala stories that he had picked up from a Malayalee neighbor, and included some malayalam words too...
[Peak Day Blues] A bollywood record!!: An Indian movie (read: Bollywood movie) has run consecutive for 500th week in a Cinema Hall in Mumbai!! Yes, Believe it or not!! Wondering which movie? It's DDLJ (Dilwale DulhaniyaLe Jayenge). Read more here PS: The previous record was Sholay which ran for 5 years!!
Desipora - Desi Diasporic Thoughts: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge: A lot of critics have claimed that in most of the Bollywood movies featuring NRIs , India the country does not exist, but Indiannes is commodifed to suit the NRIs imagination of India and is also used as his/her justification for living away from the homeland while remaining faithful to its values.

February 6, 2005: Kaho Naa Pyar Hai and My Introduction to Bollywood: For years I thought KNPH was the best Hindi film ever made, but now after having watched a few other great Bollywood films I realize that it is actually one of many amazing movies produced by the Hindi film industry. KNPH is actually part of an evolution, and has its place as a very important film in the growth of Bollywood. For one, KNPH is one of the pivotal films that captured the hearts of 100,000s of NRI and turned on many Westerners (including myself) to Bollywood. What Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Taal initiated in creating a powerful diaspora audience, it was KNPH that cemented the deal.

The Bollywood Blog: The best of Amrish Puri...: "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" (1995) - Amrish's best phase as an actor came not as a villain but as a stern disciplinarian with principles that the new generation finds impossible to uphold. More than Shah Rukh Khan, Amrish was the pivotal character of Yash Chopra's all-time blockbuster. As the London-based Chowdhary Baldev Singh who pines to return to his village in Punjab, Amrish's character propelled the plot through its tumultuous romantic karma.
