Raj Kapoor under-recognised filmmaker in North America : Toronto ...

[Daily News Headlines | Today's National & International News | Photo News] I saw most of them long before now because I'm a fan of films and my mentor encouraged me to see Raj Kapoor films as a kind of instruction manual for understanding Hindi cinema. If you see films like 'Awara', '420', etc., you see an entirely different kind of cinema in the making which is mesmerising.

[Gadling] While the popularity of Indian cinema in Africa might not be a signal of the end of Hollywood, it does show that there are other cultural forces out there besides the ones created by Spielberg and Bruckheimer. It is also welcome news for closet Bollywood fans in the US, who can now travel to Africa without having to hide their secret vice.

 [Whiteadbiz's Weblog] Safar of Rajesh Khanna is a life affirming film,portraying never ending quest for life even in one’s dying moments.What is natural about the film is that the death cannot snuff out what life has bestowed in person’s life though death is permanent.Rajesh khanna of 70’s older cinema is convincing as a die hard life portagonist.It is contribution of Rajesh Khanna to Indian cinema ,now more commonly called bollywood that a death denying role portrayal has been played by him. No other actor has played such death denying and life compulsive roles in Indian cinema.It is one of my favourites,Safar.
