[PassionForCinema] viju shah - bade miyan to bade miyan, chhote miyan subhanallah ...: Aar ya Paar’s music was criminally ignored.It is fantastic and the songs were picturised well too.In fact if we watch gupt the background music was really the soul of the film.Mohra’s music though horribly picturised was Shah’s best.Even today I listen to Saat samundar paar from Vishwatma..really nice song.I wish Viju worked more with other directors also instead of concentrating on Rajiv Rai.When Rajiv failed he also got lost.BTW what hapenned to Rajiv Rai?He was really doing well.I cant imagine he directed Pyar Ishq aur Mohabbat.

[PassionForCinema] Shahrukh-Over the Years | PassionForCinema: DDLJ  so pushed up the stakes,  that both Ram Jaane and Chaahat were big let downs.   Was the SRK  magic over, every one was wondering?   And Koyla did not do too well either, and movie itself  sucked for me.  But SRK  hit back first  with Yes Boss,  one of my favorite movies,  though it seemed inspired from The Apartment, the movie had more in common with the Michael J Fox starrers  For Love or For Money and The Secret of My Success.  The  fact is when  Yes Boss was released, i  was starting out my career,  and like SRK, in the movie, i was ambitious, having dreams.  In  fact the song  “Chaand taare”   was symptomatic of my dreams.   And  yes  experiences  taught me that like SRK  in  Yes Boss,  you had to be worldly  wise and street smart.   Raju  in  Raju Ban Gaya,  was somewhat naive,  an innocent Frank  Capra kind of character, corrupted by the city,  Rahul in Yes Boss on other hand, is not naive, he  is not bothered about conscience or ethics as long as he is able to achieve his goal.  Pardes  was not a too great movie,  but it was a surprise to watch  SRK  in a restrained and  understated performance.     The movie however was way too long, and just went on and on.

[PassionForCinema] Singh is Kinng”¦ reviews begin”¦. | PassionForCinema: You know this trend is very frustrating.I’m afraid its follwoing he same path of those Amitabh films in early 1980’s(Namak Halal,Lawaris,Mard,Andha Kanoon)which ruined the entire decade.Even masterpieces like Kalyug,Junoon,Vijeta…efforts by Shashi Kapoor to produce quality films failed thanks to all larger than life films by AB.The situation is much different now but the problem with our industry is that,”If something works big time it is done to death”.I am afraid if that happens there are more Namaste Londons and Singh is King’s waiting for us which is scary because quality films will be looked upon as “intellectual films” and will suffer.Pray to god that does not happen.
