“Big B”Amithab Bachchan would be compelled to enter politics

[ Bollywood News | Bollywood Movie | Bollywood Music | Bollywood Wallpaper | Bollywood Star] 1,500 Samajwadi Party members were arrested on Tuesday from different parts of the city on charges of unlawful assembly when they were on their way to Shivaji Park at Dadar to attend a rally.including seven women, were arrested from Sanjay Nagar at Kandivli for shouting slogans on Tuesday afternoon. They were released later in the evening after local Samajwadi Party leaders produced a personal bond.

[Musings of the Obsessive Kind] But in order to shoehorn his own vision into an overarching narrative of Guru triumphant, Ratnam has to cut some corners: when the journalistic crusade against Guru leads to a government crackdown and a commission of inquiry, Ratnam simply hand over the film to its title character, who proceeds to hold forth as the public incarnate, not bothering to deny any of the allegations of corruption and fraud leveled against him but justifying his transgressions by appealing to a higher law, not God but the public. “I am the public,” Guru rasps in the film’s memorable (and troubling) penultimate sequence, and it is clear that he feels his actions are justified because he has empowered the middle classes, and given them a stake (by means of Shakti Trading’s various public offerings, the polar opposite of the family-run and closed corporation that, Guru suggests, held sway prior to Gurukant’s rise) in Indian industry.

This is why I believe the final twist becomes necessary that leaves us surprised as we know that what we took for protagonist’s fight to prove his innocence was in fact a trick played by the Don, in order to escape law.

[Cinematical] Yes, Bollywood has gotten big enough in the multicultural city of Toronto that they'll charge upwards of 10 times what a premiere sells for at TIFF. And money isn't the only thing to hit high numbers -- city officials are expecting up to 10,000 people to hit Yonge Street in hopes to see one of the film's stars, Abhishek Bachchan or Aishwarya Rai.

Box Office Position on 10 January 2006: Old Movies Dominating

[Bollywood Movies] The first week of January has passed and it is time to asses the box office of Bollywood. According to desifans.com the top 5 movies are: Movie No. 1 :Bhagam Bhag - Doing reasonably well! Movie No. 2 : Kabul Express - Doing well in multiplexes, dropped in small centers. Movie No. 3 : Dhoom 2 - Steady strong collections! Movie No. 4 : I See You - Shockingly poor opening! Movie No. 5 : Vivah - Box office victory continues. Dhoom 2 is still strong in the box office and Vivah is doing reasonably well too. I guess next week some things would change. Additional features?!

[PassionForCinema] When I watch movies in Spanish, I am often appalled at the bad subtitles. I think part of the problem with creating good subtitles is that a person can only read so many lines at a time on the screen, and if I remember my adult learning theory correctly, we can speak 500 words per minute, correctly hear about 120, and read a fraction of that, meaning that it is impossible to create literal translations for the audience, it is too many words for the average person to process.

Fritz Lang's Indian Epic

[Teleport City] The Tiger of Eschnapur ends on a cliffhanger, and since like those Lord of the Rings movies this is really one long movie split into separate films, The Indian Tomb picks up immediately where the action left off as Seetha and Harold are rescued from certain death and Harold's sister becomes increasingly suspicious that Chandra isn't telling her the truth about her brother's absence. Eventually, after hiding out in a cave for a while, Harold and Seetha are recaptured by Chandra's men, and the final confrontation draws nigh as the two former friends face off and Chandra faces the treachery of his devious advisors.
