movies of week 46 & miscellany.

[pseudo but never fake.] Both of the episode commentaries were very interesting, ED & DB's one was more of a riot than anything. The creators' commentary on the Pilot, on the other hand, was more of the genuinely interesting kind, but they also had jokes that were surprisingly funny.

mann jaane jaan-e-mann.

[pseudo but never fake.] 2006 being the amazing year of Hindi cinema that it has been, Jaan-e-Mann doesn't quite reach the title of my favourite film of the year, but it doesn't come far and might very well make my top 5 Bollywood films of '06 should I want to form one. It ended up just the kind of weirdly funny movie I was hoping it would be and yet it turned out to be so much more than that.

[PassionForCinema] I had the fortune of attending the red carpet premiere of “The Namesake”, directed by Mira Nair, and based on the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri this past Wednesday. It was the opening night screening of the IAAC film festival in NY, and Mira Nair and Kalpen Modi were in attendance, along with a few other people in the crew.
